Car hire locations at Airport
As with any car hire location on airport, in Lanzarote you can find car hire agencies on-airport and off-airport grounds. When considering which to choose you should know that the terminal counters are always easy to find and have a simpler access. The negative side is the price (they tend to have higher prices) and its popularity – terminal agencies are - in general, busy and include waiting lines that can be a bit of a daunting start of your trip.
On the other side are the remote, off-airport locations, which usually have better prices and are somewhat less popular which results in less waiting when picking up your car. Of course, their location may not be as straightforward as the terminal one’s, and they might include a shuttle or a meet&greet service, but in our opinion, with some planning beforehand, you can manage just perfectly with a car hire off the airport grounds.
Drive your rental car beyond Airport
With a car hire at Lanzarote Airport you have great access to Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife. You should not miss the Timanfaya National Park, which will sprinkle your trip with some water from the geysers. It is located at the southwestern part of the Lanzarote island, along the Ruta de los Volcanes, and it is rated as the most inspiring spot of the island, don’t miss it! Then there’s Playa Blanca, which is the most southern beach on the island. It is a 40-min drive from the Lanzarote Airport and the beach is a popular marina for many yachts, and a destination packed with sunbathing tourists.
If caves and other wanders of the nature are your interest, visit Cueva de los Verdes, a lava formed cave that will remind you of the forces of this hot rocky liquid. It’s found on the northern part of the Lanzarote Island.
