History of Marseille Airport

The airport started to obtain its shape in 1922, in Marignane, a small village close to Marseille. Its first connections were with Toulouse and Paris airports, and a very important international flight through Lufthansa began operating – to Berlin. During the Second World War the airport was demolished, it was successfully rebuilt in 1961 and 2 decades later, it also received the actual official name – Marseille Provence Airport. Constant heavy investments to the airport’s facilities make it one of the best airports in France. In 2016 for example, over 200  million of euros were designated into the new ‘heart’ of the airport, for best user experience specifically – new main hall and gates will be made.
