The airport started to obtain its shape in 1922, in Marignane, a small village close to Marseille. Its first connections were with Toulouse and Paris airports, and a very important international flight through Lufthansa began operating – to Berlin. During the Second World War the airport was demolished, it was successfully rebuilt in 1961 and 2 decades later, it also received the actual official name – Marseille Provence Airport. Constant heavy investments to the airport’s facilities make it one of the best airports in France.
