From big and crowded to smaller and more intimate – London has all your holiday wishes covered! But the question remains with some many good options, which one should you visit? Look no further, as we got your back this holiday season! Check out the list of our favourite Christmas markets in London and pick your favourite one today.
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
First of, lets warm up with the biggest and most popular Christmas market in Europe, which has been around since 2006. And this year the rumour has it that it will be the even bigger and better than ever before! Even the “Grinchest of all Grinches” will be impressed with the magic begin the Christmas market in Hyde Park.
Hyde Park completely transforms itself at the end of every November to a spectacular Winter Wonderland. Did we say fun for the whole family? You bet! Christmas market in Hyde Park features the biggest outdoor ice-skating ring in the whole UK, huge Ferris Wheel, Magic Ice Kingdom, rollercoasters, thrilling shows, Santa grotto, and so much more!
Hum your way through the Christmas carols to one of many theme bars (that is if you are old enough) with real fires. Well, except for the Ice Bar for obvious reasons. We wouldn’t want for the glasses to melt in your hands, now would we. If you like to sing visit one of the karaoke bars and sing your heart out! There is also a special comedy club, where you can literally LOL from every Thursday to Saturday.
Back to the ice, there will be ice sculpting workshops in little German-style Village. Explore the world of ice sculptures in the Magical Ice Kingdom, where a team of truly talented ice sculpture artists create characters and scenes from the famous Dickens Christmas story. Make sure to not be dressed to impress but not to freeze! As the unique ice experience is kept to the setting of – 10 °C. Talk about keeping it cool, right?
If you are travelling with children, we recommend visiting Hyde Park in the morning or early afternoon as there are less people and you can enjoy all the festivities at a slower more relaxing pace. Make sure to take your kids to one of many organized shows on ice! This year they will be showing the story of Paddington.
Entry to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is free of charge, however the rides, shows and ice-skating are not.
Christmas market by the River
The Christmas market by the River returns this year! So, get ready to put your Christmas spirit on.
Over 70 German-style beautifully twinkling chalets stretch over from London Bridge up to Tower Bridge providing its visitors with amazing views of the Thames. You will be able to find amazing homemade gifts for your loved ones. Alongside gifts, treat yourself to some delicious food and drinks, which are served by the Christmas markets in bars. We recommend trying one of the special Christmas cocktails or sticking to the holiday classics like mulled wine, hot cider or hot cocoa.
At the local bar – The Scoop you can join food and drink tastings or get your “hands dirty” during the free craft workshops, where you can make your own Christmas decorations. Enjoy the sounds of many live music concerts being held at the banks of Thames.
Park your car hire in London at Clarion parking on Tooley Street, which is located in the middle of this Christmas market. If you are starting your festive journey through the Christmas market by the River near London Bridge, we suggest you park your car hire in London at the Rosemount on Park Street. However, you want to start on the other end at the Tower Bridge, park your car at the Tower Bridge parking on Queen Elizabeth street or at Q-park Tower Bridge on Gainsford Street.
